Shaikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah | Abu ‘Iyaad Amjad Rafiq
This is a translation of a very precious and valuable passage from the book ‘al-Radd ‘alal-Bakri’, also known with the title, ‘Talkhis al-Istighathah’. It highlights the effect of Tawhid in the removal of calamities and conversely, the role of shirk and innovation in bringing calamities and disasters.
It was originally translated in 1422/2002 in corroboration and support of the Prophetic methodology in calling to Allah and in rectifying the servant and the land. Also, to show that what the Salafi scholars such as Shaykh al-Albani (may Allāh have mercy on him), Shaykh Rabi‘ ibn Hadi, Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan and others were engaged in at the time of clarifying this correct methodology — in refutation of the Ikhwanis, Sururis, Takfīris and Kharijites — was not something new, contrary to what is portrayed by these misguided groups. Rather, it is an obligation to follow this Prophetic methodology, given that calling to Allah and rectifying the servant and the land is worship (‘ibadah).
