Shaykh al-‘Allamah ‘Ubayd al-Jabiri | Lum‘ah al-Lughah Publishing
The statement “There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah” is the foundation of Islam and the axis upon which belief, worship, and salvation revolve. It is the first testimony that enters a person into Islām, and it is what the believer hopes to leave this world upon, sealing his life with the word of Tawhid. For this reason, the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah have always emphasised the necessity of understanding its meaning, its pillars and its conditions, not merely uttering its wording. Sound knowledge of this testimony strengthens one’s creed, protects the heart, and ensures that Tawḥīd is established upon certainty, sincerity, and correct practice.
This treatise presents the explanation authored by Shaykh Ubayd al-Jabiri (may Allāh have mercy on him) titled, Taysir al-Ilah bi-Sharh Adillati Shurut La Ilaha Illa Allah. His commentary is built upon the well-known matn (essential text) compiled by Imām ʿAbd al-Raḥmān bin Ḥasan Aal al-Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him), the scholar who gathered and articulated the seven conditions of la ilāha illā Allāh and supported each condition with evidences from the Qur’an and the Sunnah.
